alt

Speaker of the Massachusetts House of Representatives Robert A. DeLeo has announced the appointment of Everett Representative Joseph W. McGonagle as Vice Chairman of the Joint Committee on Housing. Rep. McGonagle, a Democrat, is serving his second term in the House of Representatives.

“I’m very proud and also very humbled by this appointment,” Rep. McGonagle said. “The Speaker has shown great faith and confidence as a second-term member. Housing is one of the critical issues facing state government today and is the single most important issue that my constituents of Everett raise. I am excited for the opportunity and look forward to the challenge.”

In addition to his new duty as Vice Chair of the Joint Committee on Housing, Rep. McGonagle also serves on the powerful Joint Committee on Ways and Means, the Joint Committee on Transportation, the Joint Committee on Elder Affairs, and the Joint Committee on Election Laws.

McGonagle began his career in public service in 2002. He has served on the Everett Common Council and the Board of Aldermen. During his time as an Alderman, he was twice elected as President of the Board.

You can contact Rep. McGonagle as the State House at (617) 722-2400 or visit him at the Connolly Center on Fridays from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.
