Lady Tanners celebrate strong
season at basketball banquet

Gray were honored at this
year ’s Peabody High School
girls’ basketball banquet on
Monday at the Knights of
Columbus Hal l. Onwuogu
was given the Frank Wiggin
Award while Alperen, one
of the co-captains, received
the Leadership Award. The
team’s other captains, Wal-
lace and Gray, were named
co-Most Valuable Players.
Captains for next season
were selected as well. Ser-
ena Laro and Jordan Muse
got the nod.
The Peabody girls com-
pleted a strong season in
2016 - 17 , f i n i sh i ng 14 - 8
ove r a l l and 12 - 4 i n the
Nor theastern Conference.
Highl ights included a tri -
ple-overtime upset win at
Lynn Classical, an 11-game
winning streak in confer-
ence play, and a first-round
Div. I North playoff win over
Waltham.
