Malden Democrats set dates for May and June meetings
June 24 meeting to feature candidate for Governor Jay Gonzalez

emocrats and prospective
Democrats are invited to join
fellowMalden Democrats at the
Malden Democratic City Com-
mittee monthly meetings, gen-
erally held on Saturday morn-
ings. The next twomeetings will
take place May 6 and June 24 at
10:00 a.m. at the Irish American
Club in Malden.
Monthly meetings provide
an opportunity to meet fellow
Democrats, exchange informa-
tion and ideas and learn about
candidates and issues that af-
fect Malden, the region and the
nation. In addition to the regular
business of the Malden Demo-
cratic City Committee, meetings
often feature invited speakers.
One goal this year is to get to
know candidates who are run-
ning for Governor in 2018. The
Malden Democrats June 24
meeting will feature remarks
by candidate for Governor Jay
Gonzalez. An attorney, Gonza-
lez joined the Patrick Adminis-
tration in 2007 and served as the
Governor’s Secretary of Admin-
istration and Finance during the
Great Recession. He also served
as Chairman of the Board of the
Massachusetts Health Connec-
tor, where he oversaw imple-
mentation of Massachusetts’s
health care reform, and he co-
chaired the Massachusetts Life
Sciences Center.

Capital Project Assistant
Motivated Associate needed to fill position of Capital Project Assistant to assist the
Modernization/Procurement Director in all Malden Housing Authority (MHA) cap-
ital construction and purchasing activities. Responsible to perform a variety of duties
requiring independent action, judgment and strong problem solving skills, including,
but not limited to: assisting in the development and preparation of bid specifications
and documentation; serving as the MHA’s clerk of the works on active construction
projects; reviewing and processing vendor requisitions for payment; assisting in de-
veloping and overseeing departmental budgets; issuing purchase orders for MHA cen-
tral and development maintenance staff; tracking and reporting on completed mainte-
nance work orders; and completing federal, state and local reporting requirements; as
well as performing general office work. Position requires a thirty-five (35) hour reg-
ular work week, with retirement and health benefits available. Qualifications: ability
to become proficient with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s
(HUD’s), the Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development
(DHCD’s), and the MHA’s Procurement Policy’s contract administration and purchas-
ing requirements. A technical education degree and/or some construction work ex-
perience preferred. Ability to proficiently use a computer, inclusive of Word and Excel
software applications, required. Salary range up to $32,250, depending on experience.
