Dawe hurls two shutouts for Lady Tanners softball

Peabody’s starting ace Tiana Dawe helped turn the Tanners’ season in the right direction by hurling two straight shutouts, including a no-hitter last week. Dawe struck out nine and allowed four walks in a 2-0, no-hit victory over Medford last Friday. The no-hitter was the first of her career.

Dawe put forth another strong effort Monday by tossing a two-hitter in a 12-0 home victory against Somerville. The Tanners, who opened the season by losing their first three games, had gone 4-1 since and stood at 4-4 as of early this week.

On Monday, Dawe went five innings and fanned six in a contest that ended early due to the 10-run rule. Lead-off hitter Makayla Iannalfo cracked a grand slam to break the game open, and Kelsie Blake, who had two hits, added a solo home run for the Tanners. The home runs came back-to-back. Christina Rossignoll finished with two hits and two runs scored.


The runs against Medford came via two hits, including a double, and an RBI from Rossignoll, two hits from Kaitlin Thibodeau-Cory and a big squeeze bunt by Alyssa Alperen, which plated Peabody’s second run.
