Community ’N Unity Celebration

alt

To celebrate the efforts during the past year of the Community ’N Unity group, a community celebration was held in the Malden High School Courtyard featuring food, music and local talent. Several MHS students worked hard to organize the very well-attended event. The evening served to celebrate Malden’s commitment to working together. Following a vigil held last July, members of the Malden community attended three forums to engage in a dialogue about race relations. Many residents, including Mayor Gary Christenson and other city leaders and elected officials, participated in the meetings that were designed to engage residents, identify areas for improvement and support collective action. Shown above, from left to right, are Ward 2 School Committee Member Emmanuel Marsh, Police Chief Kevin Molis, event organizers and MHS students – Pierre Landache Jean, Lovelyne Pierre-Louis, Guetchina Letang, Birukti Tsige and Tamerlie Roc – and Mayor Gary Christenson.
