Rebecca Senat named Mystic Valley’s Leader of the Year for community service

A Mystic Valley Regional Charter School senior and Malden native, Rebecca Senat, was recently named Leader of the Year. Each year, this award is given to the Student Action Program volunteer who goes above and beyond what is expected.

The award was presented by Nicole Rubin, who runs Mystic Valley’s Student Action Program. When presenting the award she said, “Rebecca’s exceptional performance with the students for the past two years was recognized not only by me but by her fellow classmates as well. She was often the classroom supervisor and at times was the ‘adult’ running the art room. She knew how to handle all kinds of situations, from the participants to the leaders, and always kept the children’s best interest in mind. I have had the privilege of seeing this young woman grow into a responsible young adult. This year’s Leader of the Year is being recognized for her exceptional attitude and all-around performance with the students and her peers.”

Rebecca will continue on in the spirit of community service after graduation as she is planning to go to work for City Year, an education-focused non-profit organization founded in 1988 dedicated to helping students and schools succeed.
