Korean War veteran returns to Everett High School

The Everett High School community was proud to welcome home one of its former students earlier this month, as Don Medbery visited the school and shared stories and memories with staff and administrators.

Medbery, who grew up on Malden Street, did not receive his Everett High School diploma because he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served in Korea as a crew chief. That will change in May of 2018, when he will be presented his diploma as part of the district’s annual Memorial Day program.

Medbery received his GED while serving his country, and he has enjoyed a successful career in business. He currently lives in Dover, N.H.

“I was overwhelmed by the reception I received,” Medbery said. “And I was amazed at how beautiful the new high school is. I very much look forward to returning to my high school for the Memorial Day program.”
