    Council bans pot shops

    By Brendan Clogston The state may have legalized the sale of recreational marijuana by ballot initiative last year, but you won’t be buying it in Everett anytime soon. The city council unanimously passed an ordinance Monday night banning the establishment of marijuana shops within its borders. Such a move was possible because of a provision in the state law created in the wake of the ballot initiative, allowing communities which voted against the ballot item, Question 4, last November to create such bans.     Tide basketball team set to host Saugus By Julian Cardillo The Everett High School basketball team is on the precipice of two eras. This winter sports season will be the last one for Crimson Tide basketball coach John DiBiaso, who is also the Crimson Tide football coach and athletic director.
