Lynnfield’s Ellen Crawford was the recipient of the “Lynnfield Town Pride Award” at the Lynn Area Chamber of Commerce’s 2018 Annual Meeting and Business Excellence Awards Ceremony. Over 350 attendees gathered on February 7 to cap the Chamber’s year and to recognize the accomplishments of leaders in the Chamber and in the community.
The “Lynnfield Town Pride Award” is presented to an individual or organization that embodies the pride of Lynnfield. Crawford was honored for her years of community volunteer work. She has been a community volunteer for more than 30 years. Beginning in her children’s public schools, Ellen assumed leadership positions for large-scale fundraising efforts that allowed for complete renovation of an elementary school media center, the rebuilding of two playgrounds, multiple “Moving On” school ceremonies and safe student Post Prom events. She also served on the executive board of the Lynnfield Athletic Association, the primary fundraising organization for all high school athletes.
In the wider community, she was a member of Lynnfield’s school building committee, which undertook the projects of renovating all four public schools and creating a new senior center. Also, she was instrumental in the grassroots campaign that worked closely with town government and the developer on the project now known as MarketStreet.
Ellen is a 31-year member of Lynnfield’s St. Maria Goretti Parish, where she has been a religious education teacher for 16 years. She also co-chaired its 40th Anniversary and 50th Jubilee celebrations, and she continues her involvement in the church’s sacramental ceremonies.
Ellen volunteers with numerous town organizations, including Lynnfield Townscape, Friends of Lynnfield Library, Friends of Lynnfield Senior Center, and Lynnfield Home & Garden Club. She volunteers at My Brother’s Table and co-chairs the Catholic Charities annual Toy Drive.
Ellen has been married to her high school sweetheart for 34 years. Together they are proud parents of four children, and now count two grandchildren in their growing extended family.
She is a successful Realtor with Century 21 Commonwealth. She enjoys giving back to the community that has given her so much. She attributes her drive and commitment to her years working in her family’s fruit business, where she honed her positive work ethic and can-do attitude.
