On Monday, March 26, State Senator Sal DiDomenico, along with State Representative Joe McGonagle and members of the DeMaria administration, welcomed the state’s Secretary of Housing and Economic Development, Jay Ash, to Everett. The Senator had the pleasure of bringing the Secretary to Everett for a walking tour of Everett Square. The Senator, Representative and members of the Mayor’s Office highlighted several of Everett’s businesses, including Everett Bank, Dempsey’s Breakfast & Lunch, The Square Deli, Now Business Intelligence, the Everett Chamber of Commerce and Messinger Insurance.
Senator DiDomenico stated, “It was a great opportunity to connect with local businesses and entrepreneurs and showcase all Everett has to offer. Secretary Ash has been visiting cities and towns throughout the Commonwealth to see how his agencies can partner with our communities and bring resources to our downtown areas.”
Mayor DeMaria stated, “We are excited to continue to work with Secretary Ash to develop a viable strategy that builds upon past work, including the recently completed Everett Square Master Plan and the ongoing Urban Renewal Plan.”
Representative McGonagle stated, “I was happy to join the Everett delegation to highlight all Everett is and becoming. We were able to emphasize to Secretary Ash the City’s ambitious future vision and the implementation tools for the realization of that vision.”
The Secretary was optimistic about the City’s goal for Everett Square – you will no longer see vacant or blighted properties, but instead a vibrant, inviting downtown area where people live, work, shop and enjoy any number of top-shelf urban amenities.
