Everett baseball team now 0-2 on the season
By Julian Cardillo
The Everett baseball team lost its second game of the season, 6-5, to Gloucester on Wednesday night. Crimson Tide pitcher had eight strikeouts in the game, and the offense put up a good fight, but the Fishermen emerged victorious in the seesaw battle.
Mallard drove in a run in the third inning off a fielding error on Luis Concepcion’s infield pop fly. The Tide got the lead temporarily in the fourth inning as Jason Hennessey singled and later scored. Mallard recorded an RBI double to push Everett’s lead to 4-1.
That said, Everett struggled to maintain command as Gloucester rallied. Mallard was withdrawn in the fifth, the Fishermen taking advantage of the Tide bullpen by scoring four runs.
The Tide took the lead back in the sixth, but Gloucester won the game on a walk-off RBI double in the seventh with two men on base.
