The Everett Crimson Tide Pop Warner B Team steamrolled over the Revere Patriots this past Sunday at Everett’s Veterans Memorial Stadium, 27-0. After being pinned back deep in their own territory on the opening kickoff, Yariel Ortiz exploded on the first offensive play of the game for a 95-yard touchdown run, and with Adoni Santos adding the extra point conversion it was an early 8-0 lead 30 seconds in. Everett recovered a blocked punt deep in Revere territory, and Christian Zamor cashed in quickly with an 11-yard sprint for a lead of 14-0 after one quarter. The Everett defense, which dominated from the opening whistle, made its presence felt on consecutive scores on fumble returns. Lucas Gouveia tallied the first one from 15 yards out, and then Zamor rumbled in from 35 yards out. Ortiz added one extra point conversion run for a 27-0 halftime lead, which became the final score.
The defense has now recorded back-to-back shutouts by a combined 60-0 score to advance their record to 3-1. There were many key contributors in this total team effort. Jaiden Coriano, John Lloyd, Shane Mackenzie, Fabrice Michaud, Donald Michel, Enno Neto, Adam Penaflor, Jason Silencieux, Pedro Terra and Giacobbe Ward, among others, all played their best games of the season. The special teams, coached by special teams guru Pat Thistle, played nearly flawless in the victory. Thank you also to the cheerleaders and their coaches for their vocal support of the team all season.
