They put together one of the best seasons in school history this past fall, and head coach Lou Cicatelli’s Revere High School Patriots football team received a bundle of postseason honors for their performances. Six Patriots were named to the Northeastern Conference (NEC) First Team All-Conference squad for the 7-4 Revere High team for the Central Division. The win total was the most for a Patriot team since the early 1980s.
Three senior captains from this year’s team were named First Team All-Conference: Devin Mathius, running back Darius McNeil and linebacker Frank Sims. Junior quarterback Jonathan Murphy, who led a very productive Revere offense, was also named All-Conference, as was sophomore placekicker Rayan Riazi, who was one of the most prolific in the NEC.
“We are proud of all our honorees. They earned their selections, and through their efforts we had a great season overall,” coach Cicatelli said.
Several other Patriots were also honored, being named to the NEC All-Star Team. Included were senior captain and running back Zack Carifeo and Eric Bua, a two-way starter at split end and defensive back. With a number of underclassmen selected to the All-Conference and All-Star teams, the future appears bright for the Patriots for the upcoming 2019 season.
