Fourth Annual Fairy House Festival on Sat., Aug. 25 at Pine Banks Park
Malden Ward 5 Councillor Barbara Murphy invites you to attend to the 4th Annual Fairy House Festival Saturday, August 25, from noon to 4:00 p.m. at Pine Banks Park (1087 Main St., Malden). The event will feature a Builder’s Workshop where children will be able to use their imagination and all-natural materials to build homes for fairies and nature’s other friends, including hobbits, elves, gnomes or trolls.
“The Fairy House Festival is a time for families to unplug, get creative and enjoy the natural habitat of Pine Banks Park,” said Councillor Murphy. “Building a house for nature’s friends engages the imagination and creates a sense of joy and pride.”
All participants will receive an official Fairy House Builder’s Certificate. Individuals and groups are also welcome to enter prebuilt houses that will be entered into a contest and displayed on the “fairy house walk.”
Festival schedule: Story Hour at 1:00 p.m., Face Painting from noon to 3:00 p.m., Arts & Crafts from noon to 4:00 p.m. Attendees are invited to bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the natural habitat and the afternoon. (Rain Date: Sunday, August 26.)
Councillor Murphy, who started the event three years ago, inspired by author and illustrator Tracy Kane’s “Fairy Houses Series,” is hoping for an even bigger crowd this year. “Join us Saturday and help sprinkle a little fairy dust in our world,” she said.
This event is sponsored by Councillor Murphy, the Adelaide Breed Bayrd Foundation and Pine Banks Park.
