John V. “Jack” Cerasuolo

At age 85, of Saugus, died Wednesday at home after a brief illness. He was the husband of 56 years of Sheila A. (Banks) Cerasuolo. Born in Medford, he was the son of the late John and Rose (Spera) Cerasuolo. He was raised in Bedford and was a graduate of Lexington High School, class of 1950. He received his Agronomy Degree from the University of Maine in 1955, where he was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. Jack was a major in the United States Army Reserves and served in the US Army Artillery at the time of the Vietnam War. He and his wife Sheila founded the Salt Marsh Garden Center in Saugus. An excellent flower grower, he was highly respected by those in the flower industry, and was a member of the Essex County Flower Growers Association. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters; Barbara Cerasuolo and her husband George Wall of Winchester, Susan Wyatt and her husband Shawn of Saugus, and Anne Bowen and her husband Robert of Reading; four grandchidlren; Sarah, Anna and Maxwell Bowen of Reading and Benjamin Wall of Winchester; three sisters-in-law; Eileen Cerasuolo of Saugus, Barbara Banks of Italy and Jean Banks of Florida; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Ellen Cerasuolo and brother of the late N. Edward “Ned” and Vincent Cerasuolo. At the request of the family, services will be private.
