Established in 1947, Malden Auto Body, Inc. moved from Broadway in Everett, well, to … Malden, after they received an offer that they couldn’t refuse (an undisclosed amount) from the Encore Boston Harbor casino.
Eugene J. Massone founded the company in the ’40s. In 1982, the business was transferred to Massone’s sons, James and Kenneth Massone, and it is now in the hands of James Massone.
“We continue to provide speedy service, perfect color matching that is factory-inspected, and we can schedule same-day service,” James Massone said.
Located at 9 Whitman St. in a residential neighborhood and beside Sergio’s Auto Repair, which offers mechanical services, they have 10 parking spaces. However, business isn’t as busy as it was when the shop was in Everett on Broadway, because of the decrease in foot and vehicular traffic in Malden.
“I feel badly about leaving Everett, because we had better exposure there,” James Massone said. “We also cut down our staff in half to three auto body technicians. But we still have longtime customers.”
James Massone said they provide reasonable prices for exterior body work and paint. The shop is open Monday to Friday from 8 to 5:30 p.m., but they can provide 24-hour towing service and make referrals to Metro Insurance.
