Triangle, Inc.’s 8th Accessibility Day at Constitution Beach

More than 175 community members of all abilities attended Triangle, Inc.’s 8th annual Beach: Accessibility Day at Constitution Beach in East Boston on Saturday, August 1, 2026. Participants enjoyed the beach and water while using floating wheelchairs, mobility mats and kayaks. Triangle is a Malden-based nonprofit that has been serving people with disabilities and their families since 1971.

“In Massachusetts, we love our beach days,” said Triangle CEO Rachel Kaprielian. “It’s important to recognize the challenges that individuals in wheelchairs and [with] mobility issues face. Today’s event highlights the resources available to make our public beaches accessible and welcoming for everyone.”

This year’s event was made possible by a grant from Save the Harbor/Save the Bay’s Better Beaches Program in partnership with the Department of Conservation & Recreation (DCR) and supported by DCR’s Universal Access Program. Piers Park Sailing Center in East Boston provided adaptive kayaks.

“Beach:Accessibility Day continues to set the gold standard for inclusive and accessible programming on our region’s beaches,” said Save the Harbor/Save the Bay’s Executive Director, Chris Mancini. “It’s the event that has spawned other accessibility from Nahant to Nantasket. We are so proud to keep partnering with and learning from Triangle, Inc. when it comes to breaking barriers to access Boston Harbor for anyone.”
