MATV wins regional video award
MATV staff members Ron Cox and James Mudge recently received a first place award for their short parody video titled “It’s a Wonderful Life … in Malden,” which was produced in 2016. The award was for the Alliance for Community Media – Northeast Region’s Media Festival in the category for promoting community media.
“It’s a Wonderful Life … in Malden” features MATV staff and many Malden community members and is an entertaining take on Frank Capra’s original holiday classic. The video imagines what Malden would be like if MATV, Malden’s Media Center, never existed. It first premiered at MATV’s Annual Celebration in September 2016, but has not been shown on a big screen since.
A special holiday screening of the 15-minute video will be held at MATV on Wednesday, December 20 at 7:30 p.m. Doors will open at 7 p.m. A variety of holiday treats will be served. Get into the holiday spirit and gain a better appreciation of Malden’s community media resource. Join other members of the community for “It’s a Wonderful Life … in Malden.”
Record a Holiday Greeting at MATV!
Be sure to reserve your spot to record a greeting for MATV’s annual “Holiday Greetings from the Community!” You can record a greeting in our studio or at the location of your choice. The greetings will play on MATV throughout the holiday season. You can also request an electronic link to your individual greeting that can be shared on social media. Plan to sing a song, do a dance, perform a skit or just spread a few words of holiday cheer. Individuals, organizations, community groups and local businesses are all welcome.
Greetings recorded in the MATV studio are free to all Malden community members. If you’d like a greeting recorded off-site (in Malden), there is $15 fee. There is also a $10 fee to provide an electronic link to your individual greeting or a DVD copy. The fees support MATV, Malden’s Media Center.
