August 16, 2018
On Sunday morning, tribute was paid to Revere resident, th4e late PFC Charles W. Fredrick, a World War I US Army soldier killed in action in Germany during the River Meuse Crossing on Nov. 4, 1918, just a few days shy of the end of the war. His body was returned to Revere two years later for burial, and PFC Fredrick was given the title of “the last soldier”.
Family and friends gathered at the Beachmont Veterans Memorial School to dedicate a plaque in Fredrick’s memory. Mayor Brian Arrigo and Veterans Agent Marc Silvestri presided over the ceremony and the Revere Police Honor Guard assisted in the dedication ceremony.
