National Grid Gas Main work begins on Central St. and Lincoln Ave.

National Grid began a gas main project at various locations throughout town this week.

The Saugus Department of Public Works announced National Grid began gas main work involving the installation of 260 linear feet of new gas main at 166-180 Central St. The project will include a section of roadway that crosses over the Saugus River.

Work will occur between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Monday through Friday, and the target project completion date is approximately July 31.

The utility was also scheduled to commence additional gas main work Wednesday (July 1) with 1,500 linear feet of new gas main at 386-413 Lincoln Ave. and 6-20 Kent Street. Work will occur between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Monday through Friday, and the target project completion date is approximately September 15, 2026.

Police details will be used, and traffic detours will be established if necessary.
