    Solano inspires Mayor DeMaria to hold fundraiser for Boston Children’s Hospital

    On Thursday, April 4, Mayor Carlo DeMaria and the City of Everett held a fundraiser to help raise money for Boston Children’s Hospital. The day was designated a jeans day, and for any employee that participated a $10 donation was suggested. Mayor DeMaria was inspired to hold the fundraiser after meeting Everett High School student Molly Solano, who is running for Miss Massachusetts Outstanding Teen. As part of the Miss Massachusetts competition, Molly is raising money for the local Boston hospital. All money that was raised as part of jean’s day was donated to Solano’s fundraising efforts.     Martin Richard Foundation announces 115 runners to represent this 2018 Boston Marathon Team MR8

    Boston, MA – The Martin Richard Foundation this week announced the 115 runners who will be representing Team MR8 in the Boston Marathon on April 16, 2018. The team has set its fundraising goal at $800,000 with nearly $635,000 having already been raised. Runners ranging from ages 21 to 62 will be running the marathon in honor of eight-year-old Martin Richard, the youngest victim of the bombings that disrupted the 2013 Boston Marathon. Named for Martin’s initials and favorite sports number, Team MR8 is comprised of college students, business owners, seasoned marathoners and first-time runners.     By Sara Brown Revere High School students and teachers shared with the City Council plans to volunteer in Texas to help those who were devastated by Hurricane Harvey. Teachers Melissa Hamilton and Jennifer Kohr appeared before the council on March 5 to discuss their plans for the senior advisory class’s fundraising efforts for the victims in Houston.
