    After Holiday Pasta Party success, MHSAA eyes 2020 Hall of Fame event

    The Malden High School Alumni Association (MHSAA), celebrating the success of its recent holiday pasta party, is looking forward to more exciting events to raise funds to benefit MHS students, particularly those in need, such as the induction of a new academic Hall of Fame class in 2020. The fourth annual post-Thanksgiving MHSAA Holiday Pasta Party “was just spectacular,” said MHSAA Vice President Patricia Kelly (’80) in summing up the event at a recent Board of Directors meeting. “Everyone had a great time, even though not as many showed up as last year,” said event chair MHSAA Vice President Carol Scally (’64).     Malden High Alumni annual meeting Oct. 14

    The Malden High School Alumni Association will hold its annual meeting on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2018, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the library at Malden High School. This meeting kicks off the new school year as the MHSAA continues its mission to raise funds to support students, particularly those in need. At the annual meeting the election of the Board of Directors will take place along with a brief annual report. MHSAA members are eligible to be nominated or to nominate other members to be elected to the Board, and to vote.  The meeting is open to non-members.     MHSAA Hall of Fame names 2018 Inductees

    The Malden High School Alumni Association (MHSAA) has named seven new members to its Alumni Hall of Fame as its Class of 2018. The honorees include a former Malden police chief, a former teacher who helped give life to the alumni group, a documentary filmmaker, an ambulance company humanitarian, a broadcasting legend, a civil rights pioneer and a graphic designer who brought the cosmos to the blind. Those to be inducted on May 4 are as follows: Education (posthumous) – Joanne Iovino, Class of 1964 – former public school English teacher “Miss Assetta” from 1968-2005, founder of MHSAA and initiator of the MHS Hall of Fame program.     MHSAA Hall of Fame picks near

    Nominations to the Malden High School Alumni Association Hall of Fame for 2018 are in and the selection process is under way. MHSAA Vice President Diane Lind, MHS ’54, told board members this week the new nominations will be pooled with nominations left over from previous years and submitted to a special independent selection committee. That committee is to meet March 19 to winnow down the list to those who will be inducted at a gala banquet Friday, May 4, at Anthony’s Function Hall in Malden.
