    Malden YMCA to offer new Blood Pressure Self-Monitoring program

    On October 1 the Malden YMCA will begin offering the YMCA’s Blood Pressure Self-Monitoring program, which is designed to help participants with hypertension lower their blood pressure by following an evidence-based program that combines blood pressure self-monitoring, nutrition education seminars and personalized support. The Y developed this program to help individuals better manage hypertension and improve their overall health. According to the American Heart Association, more than 80 million Americans have high blood pressure, but less than half have it under control.     Malden YMCA selected for 2018 National Zero Robotics Competition

    The Malden YMCA Robotics team will be entering this year’s Zero Robotics (ZR) Challenge. The ZR Middle School Summer Program has been developed through a partnership between the MIT Space Systems Lab, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and the Center for the Advancement of Science in Space. The Malden YMCA team will be part of a programming competition where Synchronized Position Hold Engage and Reorient Experimental Satellite (SPHERES) robots inside the International Space Station (ISS) are controlled by programs developed by students.
