    Medford woman charged in alleged armed robbery at Market St.

     By Christopher Roberson At 1:40 p.m. on Nov. 19, Lynnfield Police Officer Scott Fitzemeyer responded to a report of shoplifting at Gymboree, 405 Market St. The store manager, whose name was not released, told Fitzemeyer that a woman, later identified as Lacora Jones, 24, of Medford, walked into the store and began draping several items over her arm. According to Fitzemeyer’s report, Jones told the manager to “get away from me” when asked if she needed assistance. Jones then allegedly gave a stern warning before leaving the store: “Come any closer or call the cops and I will [expletive] stab you.” The manager was able to take a picture of…

    Bali Hai proposal again berated by residents  By Christopher Roberson It was another long night for developers Matthew and David Palumbo, as the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) voted against the proposal for a 24-unit apartment building at the site of the Bali Hai restaurant on Moulton Drive. During the Nov. 20 meeting of the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA), resident Heather Doyle said that contrary to recent statements, there has been no outside drinking or unruly behavior from Bali Hai patrons. “We need neighbors, not noise,” she said. “Bali Hai is a very quiet neighbor.” Doyle said an apartment building will only encourage the use of drugs and alcohol…

    Best Buddies hosts Friendship 5K at MarketStreet

    By Christopher Roberson After finishing in fifth place last year, Joseph Motzkin of Lynnfield was the first runner to cross the finish line during the fourth annual Best Buddies Friendship 5K on Nov. 18 at MarketStreet Lynnfield. Motzkin finished with a time of 20 minutes, 22 seconds, defeating second-place finisher Christopher Logan, also of Lynnfield, by one minute, 11 seconds. “It felt especially good to run for a good cause,” said Motzkin, adding that this is his third year participating in the race, and “I’m very happy for all the other runners who came out.” Cameron Bennetts of Mattapoisett said he was impressed with the 47 other runners who participated…
