Take a tour of the station and learn about our history, programs, and services. Orientations are free and open to all community members. Orientations are also required in order to participate in any of our media production classes. MATV, Malden’s Media Center, invites the public to a weeklong celebration of free speech with us as we celebrate coming off the heels of being regionally recognized for “1st Place Video about Access & Community Media” from the Alliance for Community Media – Northeast Regional Conference in Schenectady, N.Y. The public may stop by MATV during its regular hours of operation to get their photograph taken by Membership & Outreach Coordinator Guillermo Hamlin for a social media initiative to represent Malden’s community media during Free Speech Week. “Chance Encounter” new exhibit at the MATV Gallery
The new exhibit at the MATV Gallery, at Malden’s Media Center, will mark a first time meeting of local artists James Blandini and Kamil Abdushukur. The two men hail from different cultures and parts of the world, and their art shares little by way of style and content. But an unexpected opening at the MATV Gallery and a desire from both to exhibit their work formed the basis for this exhibit. Despite this random pairing, the exhibit took shape in a way that complemented and supported their creative styles, while also creating something new as a unified whole. MATV hosts Annual Open House Showcase MATV, Malden’s Media Center, held their signature annual event, “Open House Showcase,” on Saturday, May 12. Over the course of the day, hundreds of community members took part in an eight-hour live TV show, webcast and Open House at the MATV studios at 145 Pleasant St. The event featured an amazing variety of 14 performances, interviews with community guests, a chance to peek behind-the-scenes of a live TV show, and an Open House atmosphere.
