    City of Everett, community partners launch first-ever food plan

    Mayor Carlo DeMaria, Everett Community Growers (ECG) and the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) are proud to jointly announce the Everett Community Food Assessment & Plan.     New citywide housing plan moves forward

     By Barbara Taormina   Malden is working with the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) on a housing production plan that will assess the city’s current housing stock and its future housing needs. The City Council voted late last year to team up with MAPC to develop the plan, which involves collecting and analyzing data on available housing, demographic information on households and growth trends.     Using image and story to build a healthier, more equitable food system in Everett

    Everett-based food justice organization Everett Community Growers (ECG) is convening a small group of Everett residents to share their experience of Everett’s food environment through a camera lens. Participants are taking to the streets as community photojournalists and capturing images that tell stories about issues in Everett’s food system, and features that make it great. They’re doing this to identify ways to improve health and racial equity in Everett’s food system.     City Council sets guidelines for MAPC’s local housing plan

    By Barbara Taormina The City Council threw out the welcome mat to the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) this week with a resolve to support the agency’s work to produce a Housing Production Plan for Malden. Housing Production Plans are used to assess a community’s housing stock, to determine if it meets the local need for affordable housing, to identify potential development sites and to ensure the supply of affordable housing keeps pace with the demand.
