    Town vote mirrors statewide primary results

      By Mark E. Vogler   Some of the races were closer. But Tuesday’s primary election didn’t produce any major surprises in contests that drew close to 19 percent of the town’s registered voters. Republican Governor Charlie Baker won his party’s place on the November ballot easily. But in Saugus, Baker edged out Scott Lively — a Trump supporter and conservative minister, 895-749. In The Democratic Primary for Governor, Jay Gonzalez beat out Bob Massie by close to 65 pecent. Saugus Democrats supported Gonzalez over Massie by a 656-625 margin.     Lynnfield voters follow state in Primary Election

     By Christopher Roberson   The results of the Sept. 4 Primary Election showed considerable margins of victory in the contested races this year with Lynnfield voters agreeing with the rest of the state. In the gubernatorial race, incumbent Gov. Charlie Baker defeated challenger Scott Lively by 27.8 percent on the state level and by 172 votes in Lynnfield. On the Democratic side, Jay Gonzalez received 64.4 percent of the statewide vote and 305 votes in Lynnfield to defeat Bob Massie, who had 35.6 percent of the statewide vote and 192 votes in Lynnfield.     Crighton takes easy victory in Special Primary Election

    By Christopher Roberson   State Rep. Brendan Crighton cruised to victory in the Feb. 6 Special Primary Election for the state senate formally occupied by Thomas McGee, who was elected mayor of Lynn in November 2017. The results showed that Crighton garnered 2,148 votes from residents in the Third Essex District. Lynnfield attorney Michael Walsh ran against Crighton as a write-in candidate and received 152 votes, 108 of which were from Lynnfield voters. However, Walsh was 148 votes shy of the minimum requirement to appear on the March 6 ballot. Therefore, Crighton will be unopposed in the next month’s General Special Election.
