First Penance Retreat at St. Maria Goretti Church

On Saturday, October 27, Grade 2 Faith Formation students participated in a First Penance retreat at St. Maria Goretti Church. In preparation for the first time these students receive the sacrament, which is also referred to as Confession or Reconciliation, the children learned how to examine their conscience, how to ask for God’s forgiveness for their sins and what it means to be absolved of these sins and reconciled with the community of the Church. It is important for the children to understand that this sacrament doesn’t focus on human weakness, but rather demonstrates the abundant love and mercy of Jesus Christ.
