    Eye Dotting Ceremony at the State House

    Mayor Gary Christenson, Councillors-at-Large Debbie DeMaria and Stephen Winslow and State Representatives Steven Ultrino and Paul Donato attended an “Eye Dotting Ceremony” on May 14 at the State House in Boston. This ancient ritual originated thousands of years ago in the Chinese culture to bring people protection, good luck, health and prosperity. To empower the lion and the dragon to do their duty, they are brought to life by this sacred tradition where they are blessed before they can participate in special performances.     Sen. DiDomenico celebrates Immigrants’ Day at the State House

    On April 4, State Senator Sal DiDomenico joined his friends at the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy (MIRA) Coalition, along with participating organizations and advocates, at Immigrants’ Day at the State House. Immigrants Day is the biggest lobbying day of the year for immigrants, refugees and allies. This year’s event highlighted the key role that foreign-born workers play in some of Massachusetts’s top economic sectors, such as healthcare, technology and hospitality. After a brief speaking program, participating advocates met with legislators to lobby for priority bills and budget items.
