After a three-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Spring Breakfast Awards Ceremony of the Malden Democratic City Committee (MDCC) returned on Saturday morning at the Irish American Club. The Committee raises money for Democratic candidates and causes.

Ward 5 School Committee member Adam Weldai and Ward 4 Councillor Ryan O’Malley were recognized for being past MDCC chairs.
Malden High School ninth-grader Henry Fan, dressed identically as he posed as the mayor, and Mayor Gary Christenson (at left) congratulated all award recipients.
State Auditor Diana DiZoglio said she has enjoyed working with State Representative Paul Donato, especially in her previous role as a State Representative.
State Senator Jason Lewis joked that his remarks were almost as brief as the city’s winter parking ban, referencing a relatively mild winter.
Ward 7 School Committee member Keith Bernard thanked everyone for recognizing him as Democrat of the Year.
Ward 5 School Committee Member Adam Weldai and Ward 4 Councillor Ryan O’Malley received awards for being past MDCC chairs from current chair Ari Taylor.
