Everett Police Chief Steven Mazzie (right) recently presented Officer Charles Aponte with the Everett Police Department Life Saving Award for his quick actions while responding to a medical call last month. After arriving at the scene, Aponte found a 73-year-old man bleeding profusely after he accidently cut his leg while working with a chainsaw. Aponte, who is a veteran, acted without hesitation and applied a tourniquet to the wound to prevent further bleeding, thus saving the man’s life. (Photo Courtesy of the Everett Police Department)
