Generous volunteers, donors make Thanksgiving happen for almost 100 families

  Approximately 82 Thanksgiving baskets – donated by local donors and The Greater Boston Food Bank – were given out at Cliftondale Congregational Church on Saturday morning. The holiday tradition has been in place for more than 20 years, with most recipients being from Saugus.

  “Food insecurity is a hidden challenge, because a lot of people suffer in silence,” Pastor Joseph Hoyle said. “Food is a human right, and everyone should have access to it.”

  Longtime volunteers came out as well as Saugus High School students. Hoyle declined for food pantry recipients to be photographed or interviewed for privacy concerns.
