Fire causes extensive damage to Pleasant Avenue home

  A two-alarm fire during the dinner hour at 27 Pleasant Ave. Thursday night caused several hundred thousand dollars’ worth of property damage to the 133-year-old house.

  Nobody was home when the fire started at about 5 pm, according to official reports.

  Firefighting crews from Lynn, Malden and Everett responded to the fire scene.

  Cause of the fire is under investigation, fire officials said. They said there were no injuries reported.

  The building is valued at $216,000, according to assessing records at Saugus Town Hall.
