“Community Climate Check-In” set for July 20 as part of Malden Climate Action Plan

Advocate Staff Report

The City of Malden invites members of the community to attend a virtual meeting regarding climate change adaptation and mitigation measures in the city on July 20, 2023, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Zoom registration for the meeting is available at bit.ly/3rjtYoU or at the QR code below.

The City is conducting this meeting as part of its efforts to formulate a Climate Action Plan, which will detail a list of strategies that will help improve the city’s preparedness for climate change and meet broader environmental sustainability goals. During the meeting, community members will be able to share how climate change has affected them as well as what types of strategies they would like included in the Climate Action Plan. Attendees will also hear a status update on the Climate Action Plan process, which includes further community outreach efforts in September.

Completed aspects of the Climate Action Plan public process include an initial community workshop for strategy development in April followed by a series of focus groups in May and June. The Climate Action Plan process is led by a Steering Committee of seven Malden residents, as well as consultants from the Metropolitan Area Planning Council and a city staff liaison. For more information on the project, please contact Senior Planner and Policy Manager Andrew Mikula at am*****@**********en.org.
