Four members of MVRCS’ Class of 2025 to receive National Merit recognition

Mystic Valley Regional Charter School has received notice that four current juniors will receive recognition from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). Mabel Ho, Thomas Oliveira, Timothy Rosell and Matthew Weng met the requirements to enter the program based on the 2023 Preliminary SAT Test (PSAT). From more than 1.3 million program entrants, these four students are among the 50,000 highest-scoring participants who will be recognized as Semifinalists or Commended Students this fall.

“We are incredibly proud of the work these students have done to position themselves so strongly in this competitive process,” said Mystic Valley Director/Superintendent Alex Dan. “Each of them is an example of what is possible when a student makes a commitment to mastering the school’s robust curriculum, including Direct Instruction Reading, Saxon Math, Core Knowledge, the Great Books, and the International Baccalaureate. This rigorous program lays the groundwork that leads to success as students move through their K-12 career at Mystic Valley, and we are incredibly proud of Mabel, Thomas, Timothy, and Matthew on this remarkable accomplishment.”

NMSC, a not-for-profit organization that operates without government assistance, was established in 1955 specifically to conduct the annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Scholarships are underwritten by the NMSC with its own funds and by approximately 400 business organizations and higher education institutions that share NMSC’s goals of honoring the nation’s scholastic champions and encouraging the pursuit of academic excellence.
