City of Revere Ramps Up Outreach to Senior Citizens, Youth, and Residents Ahead of Summer’s First Heat Wave

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

REVERE, MA– Amid this week’s heat advisory, City of Revere staff are conducting ongoing outreach to senior residents to check in and offer assistance, including deliveries of bottled water. In a collaborative effort between the Mayor’s Office, the Department of Elder Affairs, and the Department of Public Health, City staff made over 150 calls to the seniors, informing them of safety measures in the heat wave, and offering services and assistance to those in need.

The City has taken additional proactive measures to help youth and other residents beat the heat by establishing a cooling station on the McMackin Memorial Lawn (249 Broadway). The cooling station is open on Tuesday, June 18, from 1:00pm-3:00pm, and on Thursday, June 20, from 1:00pm-3:00pm. The cooling station will include misting fans, ice water, sunscreen, and shade– free to all residents.

In addition, the Rossetti-Cowan Senior Center (25 Winthrop Avenue) will be open as a cooling center, free to all residents, on Wednesday, June 19, from 12:00pm-4:00pm.
