Brazilian Presidential Election to be held in Malden

On October 2 (first round) and October 30 (second round), general elections will be held in Brazil. Brazilians who transferred their voter ID cards (until May 4) to their place of residence abroad will be able to go to the polls on these days to elect the President of the Republic for a four-year term. The Consulate General of Brazil in Boston will make available only two voting locations in its area of jurisdiction: Malden and Framingham. In Malden, thanks to the close cooperation between the Consulate and the Mayor’s Office, elections will be held at the Salemwood School (529 Salem St.). Voting hours will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

A high turnout is expected in Malden, where more than 26,000 voters, including Brazilian residents of Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont, are registered to cast their ballots in 37 electronic voting machines.

The Consulate is continuously working with Malden’s Mayor’s Office to make the voting process fast, secure and smooth. Although a limited number of parking spots will be available near the Salemwood School, the use of public transportation is strongly encouraged.
