State Senator Jason Lewis and State Representatives Paul Donato, Steve Ultrino and Kate Lipper-Garabedian were pleased to announce that the Malden Police Department received a $52,223 Municipal Road Safety grant – administered by the state’s Executive Office of Grants and Research, with funding awarded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. This grant will be used to help improve safety on local roadways through traffic safety initiatives, such as crosswalk and hands-free driving enforcement.
“I’d like to thank our legislative delegation for making these funds available. Receiving the $52,000 award from the Municipal Road Safety Grant is a testament to our commitment to ensuring the safety of our community,” said Malden Police Chief Glenn T. Cronin. “This funding will enable the Malden Police Department to implement vital programs and initiatives that enhance road safety for all residents. Together, we can make our streets safer and protect our citizens.”
“Pedestrian and road safety is one of the top concerns I hear from my constituents,” said Senator Jason Lewis. “I’m grateful to the Malden Police Department for proactively working to identify areas of concern and working diligently to keep pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers safe in Malden.”
