An American tale: young entrepreneur revitalizes Malden neighborhood

The corner of Broadway and Webster Street has seen a flurry of activity in the last few months… the presence of many remarkable gentlemen buzzing around Master Team Barbershop, like bees around a hive. If you stop by, you will see one of the coolest barbers in Malden. Ygor Rodrigues Barbosa is a highly skilled barber with over a decade of experience, and he recently held the grand opening for his barbershop, Master Team Barbershop, in Malden, Massachusetts. Mayor Gary Christenson and Chamber of Commerce members joined the Barbosas at the official ribbon-cutting celebration last week. The barbershop has been open since March 2024, but with a change in management, the Barbosa family has worked hard to make this project their own.

“We believe in creating more than just a haircut; we create tailored looks through personalized visualization to ensure a unique and confidence-boosting experience for every client,” says Barbosa.

A native of Brazil, Ygor began his barbering journey in 2011, honing a unique passion and expertise that he now brings to the local community. After relocating to the United States in 2021, he is thrilled to establish his own business and offer a fresh perspective on masculine hairstyling.

The new barbershop has become a cornerstone not only for the neighborhood, but also for exceptional grooming, offering personalized experiences tailored to each client and specialized services for children with autism. In a gesture of gratitude and community commitment, the barbershop also offers special service options for local heroes, including police officers, firefighters and EMTs. This initiative emphasizes Barbosa’s dedication to serving everyone in the community with accessible, high-quality grooming solutions, including convenient monthly service options.
