Boston-area writer and storyteller Judah Leblang will bring his newest work to Malden this spring with a special book reading and performance at The Gallery@57 on Saturday, March 21, 2026, from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. This free event will feature selections from Leblang’s upcoming memoir, “The Expiration Date,” which is a collection of true-life stories that blend humor and pathos while exploring life’s unexpected turns. Known for examining “the road less traveled — and moments when one man planned and God laughed,” Leblang’s work resonates with audiences through honesty, wit and vulnerability.
Leblang’s essays and commentaries have been broadcast on more than 200 NPR and ABC radio network stations nationwide and published in outlets, including McSweeney’s online and WBUR’s “Cognoscenti.” He is a regular columnist for Bay Windows, Boston’s LGBTQ+ newspaper, and he teaches at GrubStreet, one of the country’s leading creative writing centers.
A seasoned performer, Leblang has presented his one-man shows at Fringe Festivals across the United States and Canada, including in Minneapolis, Chicago, Winnipeg and Edmonton. In addition to his forthcoming memoir, he is the author of “Finding My Place” and “Echoes of Jerry,” both of which will be available for purchase at the event.
The reading is presented by Creative Malden and sponsored by the Malden Cultural Council and the Mass Cultural Council.
