Grant will help Kiwanis Club of Malden serve children in its community

Annual Bubbles and Books event at Miller Park

Kiwanis Club of Malden received funding for Bubbles and Books, a local service project that provides books. “Members of the Kiwanis Club of Malden are excited to have received this grant, which will assist in our effort to help children thrive, prosper and grow,” said Kiwanis Club of Malden President-Elect Robin Jorgensen. “We will be able to purchase large canopies to cover the books and give families shelter from the sun and rain.”

“We know kids need Kiwanis, in our community and in communities around the world.”

This year’s Bubbles and Books will again be at Miller Park in Malden – on June 8. All activities are free. Families may select gently used books, watch a puppet show by Lindsay and her Puppet Pals and experience the magic of large bubbles.

Robin Jorgensen said the project was selected based on community need. “We worked with city leaders and school officials to identify needs and help provide something that will really benefit kids in our community.” Research has shown that book ownership positively affects children throughout their lives.

Kiwanis Club of Malden is working with the Malden Cultural Council, which is part of the Mass Cultural Council, and many local sponsors on the project.
