Rep. Joe McGonagle was honored to announce that he was officially sworn in for his sixth term as State Representative in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. He continues to represent the 28th Middlesex District, which comprises the city of Everett. McGonagle was sworn in on New Year’s Day at the State House, as part of Massachusetts’ laws dating back to Samuel Adams that the new session begin on the first Wednesday of January.

“I am beyond thrilled and grateful to once again begin a term as Everett’s State Representative,” said McGonagle. “I’ve had such great experiences and every day on the job is a lesson, for which I am so glad to have the best teachers in my colleagues, leadership and most importantly, constituents. Thank you to the rest of the Everett delegation, Senator DiDomenico, Rep. Judith Garcia and the ‘Dean of Everett’ Rep. Danny Ryan for their teamwork. I’m looking forward to all the things we will accomplish in the coming two years.”

In 2024, McGonagle served as the Chair of the House Committee on Operations, Facilities and Security. He previously served as vice chair for the Legislature’s Joint Committee on Housing. On Jan. 8, 2025, according to the website of The 194th General Court of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the committee assignments for this year are currently pending.
