~ Letter-to-the-Editor ~ In Remembrance of a Print Media Icon

Dear Editor,

The Advocate communities lost an Icon in print media with the passing of Jim Mitchell, Jr. I have known Jim since I was 14 years old when I first met him when he bought cigars while working at my brother Ed’s Edgeworth News. Meeting Mr. Mitchell the day after the Chelsea mayoral primary telling Ed and I he was going to be the next mayor of Chelsea. Mr. Mitchell worked at the Malden News years ago. An extremely pleasant man always there to listen and tell great stories. Anytime I visited The Advocate Newspapers office, Mr. Mitchell would always call me over and ask me to tell him some funny stories of the old Malden Evening News. God Speed Sir, you will be missed.
