Special to The Advocate
The City of Malden was pleased to announce that Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Coordinator Kashawna Harling has been appointed to serve as a commissioner on the Eastern Regional Commission on the Status of Women, which is part of the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women (MCSW). The Eastern Regional Commission represents communities across the eastern portion of the Commonwealth and works to advance equity, opportunity and well-being for women and girls across the region. In her new role, Kashawna will join fellow commissioners to study local issues affecting women, collaborate with community organizations and recommend policy solutions to local and state government.
“I am honored to accept this appointment and grateful for the opportunity to serve the women and girls of the Eastern region,” said Kashawna. “I look forward to working alongside passionate community leaders to advance equity, strengthen resources, and make meaningful progress on issues that matter to families across our region.”
Kashawna brings extensive experience as a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Coordinator and community advocate, leading partnerships and initiatives that expand economic opportunity, strengthen educational access and connect women and children to critical resources, making her a valued addition to the Eastern Regional Commission on the Status of Women. That commission is one of 11 regional commissions throughout Massachusetts that extend the mission of the statewide Commission. Together, the regional commissions provide research, policy guidance and community engagement aimed at improving outcomes for women and girls.
