Boys and Girls Tennis open with wins; Baseball on road @ CM.Boys Volleyball hosts first-round game

A lot of successful regular seasons — including three Greater Boston League Championships— earned four Malden High School spring teams tickets to the MIAA Division 1 State Tournaments.
A pair of long road trips paid off for the MHS Boys and Girls Tennis Teams on Wednesday, as each of those Tornado squads won their preliminary round matches and now advance to first-round competition in the respective MIAA Division 1 State Tennis Tournaments.
Two other spring teams, Boys Volleyball and Baseball, began their State Tournament journeys Thursday.
The #32 seeded Malden Boys Volleyball was scheduled to host #33 seed Greater New Bedford Vocational Technical High School at 5:00 in the MIAA Division 1 State Boys Volleyball Tournament at the Finn Gym at Malden High.
A win for Malden Volleyball, which won the GBL Championship this year (14-6 overall), would advance the Golden Tornado team to a first-round matchup with #1 seeded Brookline, on the road Friday, May 29 at 6:30 p.m.
Malden High Baseball (14-6 overall), was the #37 seed and was scheduled to play a preliminary round game in the MIAA Division 1 State Baseball Tournament on the road Thursday at #27-seeded Catholic Memorial. The winner advances to a first-round matchup at #5-seeded Xaverian in Westwood on Monday, June 2 at 4:00 p.m.
In tennis, Malden Boys Tennis —the 2025 Greater Boston League Champion— won its first-round road match Wednesday, May 28 against Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School, 3-2, in Fall River. Malden advanced to a first-round match on the road against #2-seeded Acton-Boxborough at 3:30 p.m.
In Girls Tennis, Malden, the four-time defending GBL Champion, blanked league rival Revere, 5-0, in preliminary round action, and advanced to a first-round matchup at #4 Wellesley on Friday, May 30 at 4:00 p.m.
