Cummings Park rededicated in memory of founding Beachmont Improvement Committee member Leonard Piazza

By Tara Vocino

On its 10th anniversary, Douglass Cummings Park was rededicated in memory of Leonard “Lenny” Piazza on Sunday. Piazza, 96, was a VFW member, World War II veteran, founding member of the Beachmont Improvement Committee, Senior Center member, International Sand Sculpturing Festival chairman, a retired traveling salesman and one of Revere’s most special and enduring personalities. Lenny was all Revere, all the time – and could be found, as either a organizer, supporter or a participant at many of the Beach City’s special events throughout his life. A memorial step was dedicated in his honor on Sunday. Lenny will truly be missed – and remembered.
