Through its opening five games of the 2023 season, the Revere High School softball team had gone 2-3 and was preparing to take on neighboring rival Everett in a Greater Boston League clash on Wednesday. The Patriots had four days off dating back to last Thursday, when they were defeated by Northeast Metro Tech at home.
Before last Thursday’s loss, Revere rolled to a convincing 25-13 win at Chelsea last Wednesday. It was the Patriots’ second victory of the season. They were involved in two high-scoring affairs to open the campaign two weeks ago: a 32-20 season-opening loss to Lynn English followed by a 19-16 triumph over East Boston.
The Patriots smashed 20 hits all told in the loss to English, and Brianna Miranda and Emma Cassinello both homered. In the East Boston victory, Ally Straccia belted a round tripper, and Lea Doucette, Jordan Martelli and Frankie Reed contributed offensively as well.
Looking ahead, Revere hosted Malden in another league tussle on Thursday and are at home again next Monday, April 24, to face league opponent Somerville. The Patriots then travel to face East Boston on Tuesday, April 25.
