STEM Family Fun Night brings hands-on learning to PCSS II families

Families of elementary students recently came out for a STEM Family Fun Night, where parents and kids teamed up for an evening of hands-on learning and creativity. The event was all about getting families involved in what students are learning in the classroom in an interactive way. Activities included the following:

  • Candy DNA model building
  • Binary Code Bracelets
  • Marshmallow Catapult engineering challenge
  • Snap Circuits
  • Bristle Bots
  • Robot Race demonstration
  • Salt art
  • Slime making
  • Tangrams and math activities

Events like this are a big part of the school’s effort to spark interest in science and engineering early on, while also strengthening the connection between students and their families.
