Retirement Board seeking fifth member

  The Retirement Board is seeking applicants for a fifth member, to be chosen by the other four board members, for a three-year term commencing on July 26. The five-member board acts as fiduciaries of the Everett Retirement System and performs their duties solely in the interest of its members and beneficiaries. The Board oversees the administration of approximately 1,500 active, retired and inactive members. The day-to-day administration is conducted by the Director. Board members receive a monthly stipend. The board meets once a month, generally on the last Wednesday of the month at 9 a.m.

  Board members must: file an Annual Statement of Financial Interest with the Public Employee Retirement Administration Commission (PERAC) detailing personal assets; complete conflict of interest and ethics training biannually; develop knowledge of Massachusetts Open Meeting Law; develop knowledge of Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 32; attend meetings, seminars and educational trainings as necessary; complete 18 hours of training during their three-year term in order to continue to serve on the Board; and a minimum of three credits of training must be earned annually.

  The fifth member’s term runs for a three-year period from the date of appointment. Submissions will be accepted no later than Wednesday, May 18 at 2 p.m.

  Selected candidates will be invited to interview with the Board at the June monthly Board meeting, which will be held on June 29 at 9 a.m. at City Hall.
