Malden resident, Lissette Alvarado, announced today that she is running for Mayor of Malden. She is excited to hit the ground running, and invites all residents to her campaign launch event at 3 Amigos Bar & Grill on Thursday, June 1st at 6:00pm.

Among her priorities as Mayor, Lissette will rebuild relationships between City Hall and our educators, essential, and unionized workers. She will invest in our own backyards by supporting our diverse small businesses and working towards more affordable housing solutions within our neighborhoods. Lissette will create a Parks Commission to oversee the maintenance of Malden’s park system and natural grass playing fields for both active and passive recreation. She will prioritize safety by building a new fire station headquarters to better serve central Malden by reducing wait times to under four minutes. Finally, Lissette will increase language access and transparency initiatives throughout the city so that all residents can equally access city services, meetings, and projects.

Lissette and her husband Chris moved to Malden twelve years ago and have since set deep roots into the community. They are raising their four young children here who all attend Malden Public Schools. Prior to moving to Malden, Lissette led her entire professional life working in civil service and for the people. She worked for Barack Obama in both the U.S. Capitol and at the White House, and she will continue this high level of leadership and dedication to residents here in Malden.

Lissette states, “This is my home. Malden has blessed us with wonderful friends and a vibrant place to raise our family. I am excited to extend my advocacy work into this campaign for Mayor. Our essential workers, our parks, our neighborhoods, and all of our people are worth listening to and fighting for. We are stronger together. With transparency and collaboration, we can accomplish anything.” (781) 281-9488 www.LAforMalden.com LA@LAforMalden.com

Elections give voters opportunities to discuss important government choices that affect the quality of our everyday lives and neighborhoods. Our votes can hold our elected leaders accountable for issues of justice, fairness, and give us a voice, but only if there is a healthy debate inspired by a challenger. I’m glad Lissette Alvarado is running for Mayor. She has education, experience, and fortitude. She also follows a bright lodestar of equity, fairness, process and transparency, vital to the government of the vibrant gateway city that is Malden.
